Abstract

The Weimar Republic was the republican-democratic form of government of Germany (officially Deutches Reich) in the years 1918-1933, designated after the place of Weimar in which the constitution-giving National Assembly sat from the 6th February to the 30th September, 1919. Although the constitution came into effect only on the 11th August, 1919 and formally, even if in the substance emaciated, it remained valid until 1945, one counts the duration of the Weimar Republic from the proclamation of the republic on the 9th November, 1918 up to the formation of the Government Hitler on the 30th January 1933.
