Abstract

Malaria remains a global public health problem. Traditional vaccine development efforts spanning many decades have not been successful. Working towards a rationally designed genome-based vaccine, Mengistu Seid has characterized 14 novel P. falciparum antigens identified by proteome-wide T cell screening. Almost all antigens were immunogenic and protective against cross-species parasite challenge.
