Abstract

Lessedra Gallery and Contemporary Art Projects organize the juried exhibition held in the National Palace of Culture in Sofia. They also publish the hard cover catalogue for this exhibition with attached CD of works and essays. The jury includes two Professors of Art, Purdue University and Rutgers University, and the Editor of Printmaking Today amongst a jury panel of six. Research Statement

Research Background Lessedra Gallery and Contemporary Art Projects organize the juried exhibition held in the National Palace of Culture in Sofia. They also publish the hard cover catalogue for this exhibition with attached CD of works and essays. The jury includes two Professors of Art, Purdue University and Rutgers University, and the Editor of Printmaking Today amongst a jury panel of six. My work addressed the issue of youth and though this has been addressed it was included here as a contemporary wood engraving addressing an age-old concern.
Research Contribution The work created for Bulgaria, a wood engraving titled Youth, was selected for the exhibition, and acquired for the collection. This combined the traditional process for a suggestive image of youth and hands, ambiguous in pose as caress or abuse.
Research Significance The work was displayed in an international exhibition and included in a published catalogue. An invitation was issued to present a new image free of charge for the next Mini Print Award.
