Abstract

Lord has drawn Survey pegs in horizontal placement on land were drawn as part of the artists' workshop and camping expedition at Wallaman Falls National Park. Her comment is about displacement of marks and care of land. These four images went on tour from 2009 to 2011 and are mentioned on the GEO web site.

Research Statement

Research Background An invitation to be involved in an artists' camp led to discussions and creation of images from the concept of 'Leave No Trace.' This dialogue accompanied the Queensland Government's introduction of the Great Walks. One of these, 'Wet Tropics Walk - South' is at Wallaman Falls and the discussions and art work created there led to a touring exhibition.
Research Contribution Lord's drawings and later lithographs printed from developed work were in direct response to being in the landscape at Wallaman Falls, listening to discussions about land and caring for environment and indigenous perspectives.
Research Significance The dialogue generated by the artists' workshop and touring exhibition ranged from intense discussions in a small artists' group to images and ideas being broadcast on a web site. The artists work has been exhibited in regional galleries over two years and the GEO Project web site is ongoing. This contributes to significant dialogue and visual literacy.
