Abstract

Objectives: Using environmental DNA (eDNA) to undertake a survey of tilapia in water bodies within the Cudgen region, NSW.

Outcomes: Based on the eDNA survey results, tilapia are likely to be present in the Cudgen region of NSW. The eDNA survey detected tilapia at one site (Cudgen site 1), although the detection rate for tilapia was low at this site. Low eDNA detections can be due to low levels of infestation or due to sampling effects.
