Abstract

Various approximations for the calculation of electron transport parameters in electric and magnetic fields have been employed in plasma modeling. Some of these approximations avoid the mathematical complexity associated with introducing the magnetic field in the Boltzmann equation. These approximations are tested using an accurate Monte Carlo simulation code for electric and magnetic fields oriented at arbitrary angles with respect to each other.
