Abstract

[Extract] All people experience stress during their lifetime. Despite negative connotations around the idea of stress, with the phrase 'I'm stressed' being so commonly used, stress is at times positive and useful. It depends on the amount of stress being experience and a person's response to the situation causing the perception of stress. Nevertheless, as you will learn, stress has both physiological and psychological effects. It is crucial for the nurse to understand the physiological processes associated with stress as well as the psychological issues.
