Abstract

With FiDAP software, this paper carried out an in-depth analysis of the CdZnTe crystal growth process by the vertical Bridgman method. The effect of the latent heat-release of the CdZnTe material and the melt convection on the temperature distribution at the ampoule boundary was discussed. The effect of three different temperature gradients of 5 K/cm, 10 K/cm and 15 K/cm on the solid/liquid interface was also analyzed. The numerical simulation results show that under the computational conditions considered in the model the effect of the latent heat-release and the melt convection on the temperature distribution is very small at the ampoule boundary. At the initial and final stages of crystal growth, the solid/liquid interface changes significantly; at the middle stage, with the increase of the temperature gradient, the tendency of the concavity of the interface towards the solid region decreases but the tendency of the concavity of the interface towards the liquid region increases.
