Abstract

[Extract] Traumatic brain injury (TBI) commonly affects people who are in the prime of life and results in a high degree of variability in recovery outcomes (Reisetter and Abreu, 2005). Following acute and inpatient rehabilitation, the need for community-based rehabilitation to enhance re-engagement in socially valued occupations is recognized (Powell et al, 2002). The authors of this systematic review of eleven studies conclude that there is some evidence that a range of community rehabilitation programmes can be effective even after many years.
