Abstract

[Extract] Luke Godwin has covered a board compass in this short piece and I only respond to issues that are most relevant to my own experiences.

I concur that the application of formulaic methodologies like ACI to CHM could be difficult for the reasons Luke suggests – i.e. identifying the extent and reliability of the datum, determining an acceptable threshold and determining when those thresholds have been exceeded. I admit, however, that prior to reading Godwin's paper I was not aware of the extent of ACI per se and of pressures to apply it to cultural heritage management issues.
