Abstract

[Extract] In resource-poor communities throughout the world head lice have considerable public health relevance. In these communities individuals of all age groups are affected. Prevalence in the general population can be up to 40%, and school-age children bear a high burden of disease [1,2]. Incidence and the probability that most of the household members are infested increase with poverty [2-6].
