Abstract

This reflection offers a practitioner and student perspective on their joint experience of co-facilitating a group work program for children in long-term care and protection. Group work provided a means to be pro-active and child focused in meeting some of the known needs of children in long term care. It also provided unique learning opportunities for the student with insights into working with children and group facilitation skills as learning outcomes. It is our hope that more child focused group work for children be considered and utilised in the field for the benefit of children, students and practitioners.
